In her own words:

Hi! I’m Laura. I started my career in the mental health field in 2013 as a mental health technician and worked my way up to where I am now. I earned my master’s in clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Akron in 2017 and specialize in supporting both adolescents and adults ages 8 and up in trauma, anxiety, depression, self-harming behaviors and suicidal ideation. I also hold a special interest in women’s issues and disordered eating.
I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). My approach is grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centered orientation that weaves together DBT, CBT, and strengths-based interventions. This means our work together will focus not only on reducing symptoms, but also on supporting emotion regulation, identity development, and building the kind of coping skills that last.
I’ve had extensive experience working with at-risk youth involved in the justice system, children and teens in foster care, severe and persistent mental illness such as psychosis and bipolar disorders, and working with families both in the office and home based settings. Additionally, I have experience working with immigrant and refugee youth in processing war traumas and adjusting to life in a new country.
I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where healing can happen. Whether we’re addressing overwhelming emotions, developing healthier relationships, or working toward personal goals, my priority is to meet you where you are with compassion and authenticity.
When I’m not working, I enjoy hanging out with my two german shepherds, Winston and Elliot, reading, and playing guitar.
